Important changes to PSHCP effective 1 April 2006
A five-year agreement has been signed to renew the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP) that provides health care benefits and services to some 520,000 plan members – employees, pensioners, and their dependents. The new provisions and benefits will be in effect from 1 April 2006 to 31 March 2011.
While not all the improvements sought by FSNA members were attained, FSNA considers that the new agreement is the best that could be achieved and is a good deal for pensioners (PDF).
The renewed agreement introduces new benefits, a number of upgrades, increased flexibility, and new contribution rates for pensioners. These changes are the result of a two-year collaborative effort between the Treasury Board Secretariat, the Bargaining Agents, and the Federal Superannuates National Association. They are outlined in the PSHCP Trust Bulletin 18 (PDF).
